Delhi Metro Tickets: Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has given a big gift to the passengers on Thursday. DMRC has announced the launch of its innovative WhatsApp-based ticketing system on all lines covering NCR, including the Gurugram Rapid Metro. This facility will be provided in partnership with WhatsApp’s promoter company Meta and their partner Paylocal Fintech Private Limited. It was started on the Airport Express Line in June.
How will it work?
Commuters can now send a message with the text ‘Hi’ on WhatsApp to 9650855800 or scan the QR code to easily purchase metro tickets using their smartphones across the network.
A user can generate maximum 6 QR tickets at the same time. Tickets can be booked between 6 am to 9 pm for all lines and between 4 am to 11 pm for the Airport Line (Orange Line). Cancellation of tickets will not be allowed in WhatsApp ticketing. A nominal facility fee will be levied on transactions made through credit/debit cards. Whereas no facility fee will have to be paid for UPI-based transactions.
What did DMRC say?
Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) Managing Director Vikas Kumar said in a statement, ‘Whatsapp is the preferred messaging platform for most Indians, and buying a metro ticket will now be as easy as messaging a friend or family member. We are confident that this integration will encourage more passengers to choose Delhi Metro as their preferred mode of travel.
Ravi Garg, Business Messaging Director, Meta India, said, ‘Our goal is to simplify the transit experience for WhatsApp users, and this is another step in that direction. Every day, lakhs of passengers rely on Delhi Metro to reach their destination. We are excited to give them the experience of WhatsApp chat ticketing.
